Birth
John Linder was born in the June quarter of 1845 in Barsham, Suffolk. He was a son of William Linder and Charlotte Linder (formerly Girling). The date comes from his birth record and is supported by his age of 79 years when he died in 1924.
Elizabeth Brothers was born in the June quarter of 1847 in Wangford, Suffolk. The date and place come from her Civil Birth Registration.
Marriage
The couple was married in Suffolk in the June Quarter of 1867. The 1871 British Census lists two daughters: Elizabeth C (age 3) and Eliza E (age 1).The 1881 Canadian Census repeats that John married a woman named Elizabeth in England, in about 1866-67. While still in England they had two children, daughters born in about 1868 and 1870.
John next appears in Canada when his son John Arthur Linder (b. 14 Oct 1872) was baptised on 14 Dec 1873 by William Mills in Woolwich Twp. The parents are listed as John and Eliza Linder, living in Woolwich Township. In 1881 the family was in Pilkington Township, Wellington County with five children. The delayed birth registration of son William records that there were a total of six children born to his mother. John's death record says that he had come to Canada fifty years earlier which confirms that he was a recent immigrant to Canada at the baptism.
When Matilda Uttley, John's half sister died in Elmira in 1918, her obituary includes John Linder living in Toronto.
Death
John Linder died in Toronto on May 23, 1924. The information from his death record, reference #003-691, is very complete:

Elizabeth died in Woodstock, Ont on January 2, 1938. She was probably living with her daughter Elizabeth Bradley in Woodstock when she died. The death information was recorded in the burial journal of Prospect Cemetery in Toronto. Elizabeth was buried on January 4 beside her husband.
